John Ensminger '87 Joins Cal Beta Chapter Eternal

With heavy hearts, we share the sudden passing of John Richard Ensminger, age 59, of Portland Oregon on Sunday June 30, 2024.

Born in Seattle, Washington, John lived in Austin, TX, and later Bellevue, WA, before embarking on his life adventures. Beginning as a student at Cal Berkeley and later at the Wharton School of Business, John lived around the US and across the world in Taiwan, South Korea, and the Netherlands, making new and meaningful connections wherever he went.

He is deeply mourned by his loving wife of 25+ years, Emma Minto; children (Ryan, Jack, Brynn, and David Ensminger); parents (Richard and Carroll Ensminger); siblings (Mary, Mark, and Anne); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

John was deeply committed to his family, community, and athletics. He was an accomplished triathlete, marathoner, Ironman, and coach. John was an inspiration to anyone lucky enough to cross his path. One of his deep passions was his love of service; volunteering across organizations and spanning decades.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for the morning of Saturday, July 27, at 10am at Jesuit High School in Beaverton, OR.

Donations to the Narcolepsy Network Inc. are welcome in honor of John’s memory. A link to the site is here.
